Why Cherrywood Village partnered with Mayfield Vending Services

Cherrywood Village is more than just a retirement community - it’s luxury resort-style complex that allows seniors to thrive.

They’ve thought of everything down to an 18-hole putting green, swimming pool, garden, and acres of lush forest. It’s this maniacal attention to detail that sets themselves apart, keeps their units occupied, and ultimately led to a partnership with Mayfield Vending.

We were introduced to Cherrywood Village when we purchased the existing machine in the building.

While the machine itself was high-end, unfortunately it was a Cantaloupe Cooler which means it didn’t accept cash. Not to state the obvious…. but the residents at Cherrywood Village tend to prefer paying in cash and a cooler-style machine was confusing for them to use.

To make matters worse, the Cantaloupe Cooler was in a cellular dead-zone which meant that 50 - 60% of the time the machine was down.

Running a successful vending business is about providing value to customers and meeting them where they’re at. When we began working with Cherrywood Village, the first thing we did was remove the Cantaloupe Cooler, and install a Dixie Narco 3800.

This machine fits the location as it is a luxury vending machine that accepts cash. It even has a robotic delivery cup so that drinks aren’t shaken when they’re delivered. Traditional vending machines “drop” the drinks which can cause them to fizz.

“Our previous vending machine was down over half of the time due to cellular issues. We no longer have to deal with that”

The value to the residents is undebatable.

While they have dining services, it’s only during certain parts of the day. Many residents also aren’t very mobile, so it helps to have sodas available in a high traffic hall way on the second floor (close to where they live).

We’ve noticed the staff also appreciates the vending machine. At any given moment there are over 50 staff members on site, and many of them work nontraditional working hours including overnight stints.

We’ve noticed drinks like Monsters and Starbucks Mochas are popular with the staff as they need access to caffeine to get through what can be otherwise grueling shifts.

We’re proud to work with Cherrywood Village, and this was reinforced when residents tell us how much they appreciate having a vending service on site. At the end of the day, having a machine is a luxury amenity that can be a competitive differentiator. Every service available to residents is part of their first impression as they so carefully decide where to receive long-term care.

The machine itself looked phenomenal and accepts cash, card, or Apple Pay with a single tap.
